Project Overview


Executive Summary

The project entitled as “Ending Agriculture Bonded Labours in Nepal-EABL” has been designed aiming at to to agricultural bonded labours;Harawa-Charawa in Nepal, living in a just society in peace and dignity, united in diversity and empowered to achieve their full potential, claim their universal rights, meet their basic needs and improve their quality of life. The goal of the project will be achieved by setting two outcome (s) as i) The Harawa Charawa networks formed, strengthened, and mobilized to contribute to the united movement of the agriculture bonded labour and ii) FLEAG platform mobilised to advocate for changes and implementation of legislative, policies and programs of provincial and federal government in favour of agricultural bonded labours. The project will be implemented targeting agriculture bonded labours; Harawa-Charawa at Madesh province, freed Haliyas at Sudurpaschim province, Kamaiyas a at Lumbuni and Sudurpaschim province as well as joint advocacy movement at Kathmandu (Bagmati province).The project technically and financially supported with the Freedom Fund (TFF) will coordinate and collaborate with local implementing partners SCDC and JDC at Saptari, DJKYC at Siraha, CIC at Dhanusha, KMJS at Bardiya, EDC at Doti and PeaceWin at Bajura also FLeAG to conduct policy advocacy at local, provincial and federal level in regards to rights, emancipation and rehabilitation of Haliyas, Harawa-Charawa and Kamaiyas communities. The total budget will of the project will be NPR 41,829,383 (USD 321,765) which will be requested with the Freedom Fund (FF). The project will adopt Human Rights-based and participatory approach in course of project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

Outcome (s)

Outcome-1: The Harawa Charawa networks formed, strengthened, and mobilized to contribute to the united movement of the agriculture bonded labour

Outcome-2: FLEAG platform mobilised to advocate for changes and implementation of legislative, policies and programs of provincial and federal government in favour of agricultural bonded labours

Output (s)

Output-1.1: 810 agricultural bonded labour network members have been engaged in cross learning, capacity building and leadership training.

Output-1.2: Harawa-Charawa Network district level committees established and active in all eight districts of Province 2

Output-2.1: A united movement of agricultural bonded labour groups is formed and active at the national level.

Output-2.2: A Joint strategy/plan for the movement to end agricultural bonded labour is prepared and implemented.

Output-2.3: Government officials and other stakeholders at Federal, Provincial, Municipality and Ward levels are engaged through program activities
